Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

BJJ is a submission grappling martial art where weight, leverage and timing are key elements to overcoming size and strength.

BJJ has become one of the most dominant martial arts in the world, and is now recognised as essential for any martial artists wanting a well rounded skill set. Many fights and assaults end on the ground and this is where people are most vulnerable. There is no better or more effective ground fighting system than BJJ.

The sporting aspect of BJJ is an addictive game of mental and physical chess where strategy and counter strategy are pitted against one another for dominance. If you’re looking for a martial art that will keep you mentally engaged and enjoy problem solving at its highest form, all the while getting a great all over work out, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is what you’re looking for.

rise mma open mat

Open Mat & Drilling

Open Mat is time set aside for students to get on the mat together in an unstructured format. This time can be used to work on the bags, do spadework or spar/roll.

Open Mat can also be used to practice and further refine learned techniques.

No Gi BJJ

No Gi BJJ is the faster, slipperier version of BJJ in which practitioner’s wear a rash guard and board shorts.

Also known as submission wrestling, this form of grappling doesn’t rely on the Gi (BJJ uniform) for grips or control of your opponent.

No Gi grappling requires superior control and technique in order to be successful and is best suited to the more experienced grappler who wishes to take their control and submission game to next level.
